      <image:title>Art - Autotrist</image:title>
<image:caption>Media: car windshield, canvas, paintbrushes, submerged water pump and watercolor. Size: 39.4 x 31.5 x 5.91 in 1.0 x 0.8 x 0.15 m The idea of Autotrist came from an observation of how a windshield cleared the rain inform a car’s window. It resembled a desperate girl crying or a painter feverishlypaintingto articulate profound feelings. While developing the idea, I also considered how machinery is so advanced it can create art on its own. That’s when the idea of the name of this work found me: Autotrist- automatic artist, together with the word “triste” – sad in Portuguese, which represents the initial inspiration for this work, tears. To keep the watercolor flowing in a cycle, I attached an acrylic, rectangular box to the canvas with screws and put a submerged water pump inside it. I filled it with water and watercolor. I then attached a plastic tube tothe submerged pump and pierced the plastic so that water could fall on the canvas. I also explored the electric possibilities of kinetics.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Art - Moonwalk</image:title>
<image:caption>Media: candle wax and water. Size: 1.2 x 0.6 x 0.1 m 47.24 x 23.62 x 3.94 in Moonwalk was inspired by landscapes and textures. I am fascinated by out world’s diverse patterns and textures, but since they are already present, I decided to create the texture of the moon. The exploration of candle wax allowed me to test it in various different scenarios and finally settle with its reaction with water. Melted candle wax and water created various abstract forms. I did the process several different times, until I had enough candle wax to fill a large surface.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Art - Respice Finem</image:title>
<image:caption>Media: Ultra-violet Liquid, Ultra-violet Light, Resin, Water Color, Glass, Wood. Size: 0.6 x 0.6 m 23.6 x 23.6 in   “Respice Finem” (latin) means look towards the end, consider the outcome. The idea of this project was born in an astrophysics class. The relative nature of our existence made me question ideas like how and why are we here, but mainly, where, as a human race, are we going? Where was I going after that lesson, after school, after college, after I die? Where does the sum of the energy, feeling and connection we create in daily interactions go? I looked at my surroundings from a wider perspective and how, like the planets, our lives are aligned. I decided to create a representation of vastness. To create the magical effect I wanted, I made a box that would light up the UV light liquid and water color pressed to the glass, inside the resin. I created a representation of where we are, inside of where we are. This project allowed me to contemplate deep questions which reflect in my approach towards my life.</image:caption>
